I have been in the capital area two or three times so far. I always visited the outside of the building, which is very beautiful. On my visit, I never had a wish to stay inside nor think they are open public visitation. Thus, during this visit to the Utah State Capital, I had the opportunity to see what I was losing in such a great visit. I was astonished by such a magnificent building and its architecture that reminds me of Rome and Greek architecture.

I was impressed by the beauty of the artworks in the Capital and all the history they portray. The Capital follows Greek architecture, and it’s a characteristic of the buildings that was specific for meetings to discuss laws and related topics on Greece and Roma.

Each status tells one history, and the main corridor is magnificent. I could see similarities from what I saw on Hagia Sophia from the Contantinopolis. The central dome is classic from Byzantine architecture and Greek architecture.

Also, the history behind the seagulls is awe-inspiring, how the miracle happened on this land to save people’s crops to provide their supplies.

I can say that my visit was completely different from what I was expecting. I thought I would see just another building that people use to make decisions. But I was wrong. After that, I completely changed my view of the Capitol building, and now I have another perception of the building itself and what people do inside.

First of all, it surprises me that legislator doesn’t live primarily from their public job. Instead, they work for the private sector, which is a big difference from where I came from. In my country, I can say that we have political careers and most of them are passed by generation. Who wouldn’t like to live a good life by doing a little or nothing? Such a great deal, don’t you think?

Politic’s image to society is that they do their best to serve their people. And I believe they do it well. I could see that work is done in the Capital is serious work to suit the wishes of this society. Furthermore, the place is open-public, making it more transparent to their community, rather than making laws on closed doors.
